In 2010, following the destruction to the economy caused by the 2008 credit crisis, there emerged a large number of new, mostly small property sector companies formed by professionals made redundant by the economic shock.

The business development consultancy formed and managed by John Cowell in 2000 was approached by many of these new businesses based in London and the South East seeking advice and support.

Not having the financial resources nor time to carry out the tasks needed to sustain and grow the business, we created collaborating groups who, working together under our management and mentoring, targeted and built working relationships with potential new business providers in both market sectors and regions where they had strengths or ambition.

Each member company pays an affordable fee to support the management, mentoring and marketing and each then contributes to agreed joint activities making membership a successful and time-efficient way of promoting their services and meeting new business partners.

Regular, informal gatherings designed to give members the opportunity to invite contacts and clients in order to build and strengthen relationships.

Online Features

A consistent and purposeful online presences is now an essential element of business development. Members receive support for their own content by reposts and positive comment. We also generate content in the form of posts that are scheduled for regular upload onto chosen platforms such as LinkedIn and Intsagram.

Additionally we collaborate with members to produce online eZines that are mailed to the relevant contact databases which feature articles and case studies.

Over the past 10 years we have successfully formed and operated a variety of market sector and location based groups, formed either by our extensive knowledge of the market or in collaboration with members wanting to target a particular segment. Current groups are listed below and we are always open to ideas or suggestions on the back of new membership interests.

This group uniquely focuses only on the development, design and construction of hotels within the UK. We have collaborated with major professional companies in the sector to provide opportunities for members to engage with developers, owners, funders and operators.

We currently partner with Colliers and DWF Law to host a programme of workshops running throughout 2024.

This long running group has held regular evening networking events in London SE1, aimed at the many property industry companies based and operating in the borough.

The area continues to be a major development hub and home to many architects, engineers and specialist service providers.

Building Partnerships offers start-ups and SME's of all types of services an opportunity to 'punch above their weight' by collaborating with other similar, but not competing companies to gain new business, working partners and referrals.

We hold regular Working Lunches in London and the South East when members invite their contacts and clients and share the cost of some effective hospitality and networking.

They also benefit from our mentoring services and referrals both in the UK and at MIPIM and other industry events.

This latest group has been formed to promote the latest, sustainable thinking by design and development professionals whereby development and regeneration is led by adaptive reuse of existing built assets across all sectors.

We are promoting innovation and the retention of our historic heritage and are actively seeking service providing companies and practices that share our vision and thinking.
